The OMNICON Image Analysis Software uses a client-server environment utilizing Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) to participate in conversations with other applications. DDE is a mechanism supported by the Microsoft Windows operating environment that enables two applications to exchange data.

The OMNICON Image Analysis Software is a database for its clients. The user establishes the environment within the OMNICON Image Analysis Software, and its clients follow this setup. The method of analyses, measurements to be taken and automatic stage scan are all established within the server.
